Experience & Leadership
Leadership is built through experience, hard work, and a willingness to take responsibility.
For more than four decades, Theresa Bergeron has built businesses, supported community organizations, raised a family, and worked to strengthen North Dundas. Her experience as an entrepreneur, community member, and Deputy Mayor has shaped her practical approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
She believes effective leadership starts with listening, doing the research, and making decisions that serve the long-term interests of the community.
For more than forty years, Theresa Bergeron has built and operated Thermohair Inc., transforming a small farm-based venture into a successful Canadian manufacturing business whose products are sold across Canada and internationally.
Building and sustaining that business required determination, adaptability, and careful financial management through changing markets, factory closures, global competition, and economic uncertainty.
Theresa's entrepreneurial achievements have been recognized nationally. She was named one of Canada's Top 10 Entrepreneurial Women and was featured on CBC Venture. She has also served in leadership roles within the Canadian Goat Society and contributed to the development of the Canadian Goat Code of Practice.
As a business owner, Theresa understands budgeting, long-term planning, accountability, and the importance of finding practical solutions to complex challenges.
Entrepreneur & Business Owner
Community Involvement
Theresa has spent decades supporting organizations and initiatives that strengthen the community.
Her involvement has included agricultural organizations, conservation initiatives, community events, and local charitable efforts. She continues to support organizations that assist residents, families, and seniors throughout North Dundas.
She believes strong communities are built by people who are willing to contribute their time, expertise, and energy to helping others.
Deputy Mayor & Municipal Leadership
Theresa joined North Dundas Council in 2022 and currently serves as Deputy Mayor.
Known for her research-driven approach, she comes prepared, asks questions, and works to understand the issues facing residents and the municipality. She believes elected officials have a responsibility to provide direct answers, remain accessible, and make decisions based on facts.
Her focus has been on understanding the challenges facing North Dundas and helping position the community for long-term success.
When North Dundas residents faced significant property tax increases, Theresa began asking questions about the factors driving those increases.
Her investigation led her through multiple township departments as she worked to better understand growth constraints, infrastructure challenges, and long-term planning issues affecting the municipality.
Theresa believes residents deserve leaders who are willing to ask difficult questions, examine the facts, and bring important information forward for public discussion.
This approach continues to guide her work as Deputy Mayor and her vision for the future of North Dundas.
Asking the Tough Questions
